Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Frederick J. Wood officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. Memorials may be given to the Alton L. Nelson Memorial Fund. Mr. Nelson was born Nov. 18, 1914, at Miller, a son of Anton and Luella (Evanson) Nelson. He attended rural Miller schools. On Oct. 20, 1951, he married Gail M. Myli at Mason City. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. For several years he was employed at American Crystal Sugar, Mason City, and later worked at Gamble- Robinson, Mason City. For many years Mr. Nelson worked at the former State Brand Creamery as a dock foreman. He also was employed at Lifetime/Bendix Motor Home Company, Mason City, until retiring in the late 1970s. Following his retirement, he continued to work part-time at Toltec Solar Systems, Clear Lake. Survivors include his wife, Gail M. Nelson, Mason City; one sister, Lucille Schultz, Mason City; one niece, Mrs. Ralph (Betty) Hoth, Sumner; and one nephew, Kevin Schultz and his wife, Peggy, and two great-nieces, Kellie and Paula Schultz, all of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister and her husband, Violet and Ben Roswag.
