N. Olmsted: Rites for New Hampton Druggist to Be Thursday Olmsted Served as Chickasaw County's Treasurer 4 Years NEW HAMPTON - Funeral services for E. N. Olmsted, 84, New Hampton druggist for 64 years, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Perry chapel with the Rev. W. D. Spiker, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating. Mr. Olmsted died Tuesday morning from complications. Four weeks ago he underwent a major operation in a Rochester, Minn., hospital. He attended the Bradford academy near Nashua and the Physicians and Surgeons college at Keokuk. In 1877 he joined the drug firm of W. G. Gardner and it was changed to W. G. Gardner and company. In 1890 the firm changed its name to Olmsted and Gardner, the oldest business firm operated by the same members, in New Hampton. He was formerly a member of the Knights of Pythias. From 1913 until 1917 he served as Chickasaw county treasurer. Surviving are his widow; one son, H. H. Olmsted of Waterloo. Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery.
