Riefe (Doris Winkelman): Mrs. Henry C. Riefe, 80, Succumbs at Home Funeral Rites to Be Held Friday Morning at St. James Church Mrs. Henry C. Riefe, 80, died at her home, 1420 Pennsylvania avenue southeast, at 8:45 o'clock, Wednesday morning, following a short illness. She had been a resident of Mason City for the past 49 years. Mrs. Riefe was born Doris Winkelman Oct. 14, 1858, at Hanover, Germany. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed April 6, 1873. She came to the United States in 1880 and remained in New York City until 1888. On April 29, 1888, she was married to Henry C. Riefe in New York. HERE SINCE 1890 That same year they moved to Charles City and then moved to Mason City in 1890. Since that time they have resided in Mason City, celebrating their golden wedding at their home here less than a year ago. Surviving Mrs. Riefe are her husband, Henry C. Riefe, and four daughters, Mrs. M. V. (Elma) Richardson, Chicago; Mrs. William (Gertrude) Peterson, Mrs. H. E. (Claudine) Bast and Mrs. Harold (Esther) Campbell, Mason City. Six grandsons and one granddaughter also survive - Billy Coleman, Dean and Jim Peterson, Dorothy, Bob and Don Campbell, all of Mason City, and William Peterson, Jr. of Belmond. WAS CHURCH MEMBER Mrs. Riefe was a member of the St. James Lutheran church and a charter member of the St. James ladies aid which was organized in 1891. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the St. James Lutheran church with the Rev. O. Mall, pastor of the church, in charge. Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery.
