Schwartz Dies at Charles City Mrs. Nellie M. Schwartz, 39, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Paquette, Charles City, at 8:45 o'clock Wednesday morning following a lingering illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body was taken to the McAuley and Son funeral home, Mason City. Mrs. Schwartz had been a resident of Mason City for the past 33 years. **** Mason City Globe Gazette, Thursday April 1939, p. 17, col. 5, with picture of Nellie M. Schwartz: Schwartz Rites To Be Friday Funeral Planned for 3 O'Clock at McAuley and Son Funeral Home Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie M. Schwartz, 59 who died at the home of her daughter, Mr. A. J. Paquette, Charles City, Wednesday morning following a lingering illness, will be held at the chapel of the McAuley and Son funeral home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. David L. Kratz, pastor of the Church of Christ in charge. Mrs. Schwartz, nee Nellie M. Safford, was born at Riverside Cal., Feb. 19, 1880. She was married to Frank E. C. Schwartz, Sept. 19, 1901, at Charles City. He preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1929. She has resided in Mason City (Cerro Gordo) for the past 33 years and had been a professional seamstress for a number of years at her home at 421 Washington avenue northwest. Since Jan. 1, 1939, Mrs. Schwartz has resided with her daughter at Charles City. Surviving Mrs. Schwartz are four daughters, Thelma L. Schwartz, Mason City; Mrs. A. J. Paquette, Charles City; Mrs. W. C. Dietrich, Chicago and Florence E. Schwartz, Mason City and five sons, Frank, Galesburg, Ill.; James, Phoenix, Ariz.; Theodore, Ray and Max of Mason City; and one sister, Mrs. Irene McCleary, Jerome, Wash.; and a brother, Leroy Safford, Valjoe [sic], Cal.; and six grandchildren. The body will lie in state at the McAuley and son funeral home until the time of services. Burial will be a Memorial Park.
