John Collins, of the firm of Collins & Minor, was born in Kentucky in 1852; came
to Clayton county, Iowa, when quite young, where he lived until 1875, when he
came to Cherokee, and for a time was engaged in farming. He married Fannie F.
Pearson. They have three daughters.
