John Ernster, of the firm of Ernster & Oleson, dealers in boots, hoes, clocks,
jewelry and sewing machines, was born in Germany in 1851; came to America in
1861. He engaged in the boot and shoe business in Marcus in 1875, and in his
present business and partnership in 1881.
