P. J. Hiltgen, cashier of the Marcus Bank, was born in Germany in 1849; came to
America in 1861 and settled in Minn.: moved to Ia. in 1877, and engaged in the
mercantile business; was elected town clerk in 1878 and justice of the peace in
1879. He married Therisa Barud of N. Y., in 1874, and has one child—Lucy.
