George A. Johnson, dealer in general merchandise, established business in March,
1874; was born in Canada in 1842; he came to Michigan in 1864. In 1867 he
returned to Canada, and in 1871 he came to Cherokee, Ia., and was employed as
clerk until 1874, when he engaged in business as above. He married Eliza Head,
of Canada. They have four children.
