ANNA BUGH Mrs. Anna Bugh, 79, passed away at Riverside, Calif., Friday at 4:45 a. m. where she was making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Herb Bauer (Leona), according to word re- ceived yesterday by Cherokee relatives. Mrs Bugh had lived in the Cherokee community for many years. Another daughter, Mrs. Esther Cunliffe, will accompany the body to Cherokee, arriving in Sioux City Monday noon. Funer- al arrangements will be an- nounced later. Other children surviving Mrs. Bugh are: three sons, Clarence, Clayton and E. M. Bugh, all of Cherokee; and her daughters Mrs. James Garboni (Ruth), Riv- erside, Mrs. M. L. Warren (Ed- na) Redwing, Minn., Mrs. Hen- ry Everhart (Isabel), Aurelia. (died - 5/21/1948) --------------------------------------- Obituary - Daniel Bugh "The Cherokee Weekly Times" Thursday, 8 DEC 1898 p. 5 Column 3 Daniel Bugh, a pioneer resident of Pi- lot township, died at his home in that township, Friday evening. Mr. Bugh was once one of the earliest settlers of the county and during his long residence here had become known as a man of most excellent character. The funeral was held Sunday and was conducted by Rev. Ferris. (separate article, from the archives, date unknown) The people of Pilot were surprised at hearing of the death of Mr. Bugh which occured at eight o'clock Friday evening. The funeral was held at the family residence Sunday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. --------------------------------------- DEATHS F. W. Bugh F. W. Bugh, 65, resident of Cherokee county all his life, died at 4 o'clock this morning at his home. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Mr. Bugh was raised in Chero- kee county and received his educa- tion in Cherokee schools. He work- ed for his father until he was 23 and then purchased his present farm. Mr. Bugh is survived by a wife, five daughters and three sons. Funeral services for F. S. Bugh who died Wednesday morning will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday after- noon at the home, four miles east and one-half mile north of Chero- kee. Rev. R. C. Mitchell will have charge of the services. Burial will be made at Oak Hill cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent. (died 17 OCT 1929) --------------------------------------- Gerald Lee Bugh Gerald Lee Bugh, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bugh, Chero- kee, died here Sunday morning, July 13. Survivors include: Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bugh; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Grieneke, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bugh, Washta. Graveside services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aure- lia. Greenwood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (died 7-13-1958) --------------------------------------- OBITUARY Kenneth Lyle Bugh Kenneth Lyle Bugh was born November 10, 1937 at Cherokee, Iowa and passed away sudden- ly Sunday, September 30, 1962 as the result of an automobile accident near Green River, Wyo- ming, at the age of twenty-four years, ten months and twenty days. He graduated from Washing- ton High School., Cherokee in May of 1956. On October 1, 1956, he I elisted in the United States Air Force and spent the next four years at Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio, Texas, Ama- rillo Air Base, Amarillo, Texas. Walker Air Force Base, Roswell, New Mexico and Peace Air Force Base at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, attaining the rank of Airman Second Class. He was released from active service October 1, 1960 and re- ceived his Honorable Discharge from the Air Force Reserve Oc- tober 3, 1962. Kenneth was employed by the Iowa Public Service Company at Cherokee. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Bessie Bugh, Cherokee; his father, Clayton Bugh, Cherokee; five sisters, Mrs. Buster (Dorothy) Jenness, Marcus; Mrs. John (Alice) Bevins, Crete, Neb.; Mrs. Clifford (Marion) Vannatta, Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Ce- cil (Marguerite) Lovell, Mun- delein, Ill.; and Mrs. Norman (Marjorie) Tedemanson, Rem- brandt, Iowa and one brother, James at home. Also, his grand- mother, Mrs. Maude Ballard, Cherokee, thirteen nieces, five nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins and his five broth- ers-in-law. A family prayer service was held Oct. 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Boothy Funeral Home and ser- vices at 2:00 p,.m. in St. Paul's Methodist Church. Interment was in Oakhill Cemetery. A 1956 graduate of Washington High School, he was employed by Iowa Public Service here. He had spent four years in the U. S. Air Force. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Bessie Bugh of Cherokee; his fa- ther, Clayton Bugh, Cherokee; five sisters, Mrs. Buster (Dorothy) Jenness, Marcus; Mrs. John (Alice) Bevins, Crete, Neb.; Mrs. Clifford (Marian) Vannatta, Sioux City, Mrs. Norman (Marjorie) Tedeman- son, Rembrandt, Mrs. Cecil (Mar- guerite) Lovell, Mundelein, Ill.; and a brother, James Bugh at home; also a half brother Steven and a grandmother, Mrs. Maud Ballard, Cherokee. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's Methodist church. Rev. V. V. Schultz is to officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. (died 9-30-1962) --------------------------------------- Mrs. Nellie Bugh Mrs. Nellie Grace Bugh, 101, Cherokee, died Jan. 26 at the Hilltop Care Center in Cherokee following a two year illness. Funeral services wil be he held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from Boothby Funeral Home in Cher- okee. The Rev. Gary Armstrong will officiate and burial will be the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chero kee. There will be a family prayer service at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. She was born Jan. 19,1893 in Cherokee County to A.D. and Alice Groves Bushlow. She was married to Clarence Bugh on Feb. 15,1914 in Sioux City. She and her husband farmed in Pilot Township in Cherokee County for many years. She had lived in Cherokee since 1950. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the Chat- of-Sew Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Jan. 1968, a daughter, Mrs. Merle Robinson on July 20, 1988; and infant son and three brothers. --------------------------------------- Obituary. Susan Lockard Bugh was born In Sussex. county, New Jersey, Jan. 24, 1824, died Sept. 6, 1905, in her 81st year. Deceased has been a resident of Cherokee for thirty-seven years. She was the mother of thirteen children, eight of whom survive her. The fun- eral services wee conducted from the Baptist church Saturday at 2 p. m. Mrs. Bugh was a member of the Ad- ventist church. Rev. Hupp preached the sermon from the text of her own se- lection, John 5:28-9. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. --------------------------------------- ROBERT BUGH- Robert Bugh was born in Sac county, March 1, 1862. At the time of his death October 8, 1938, he was 76 years, seven months and eight days of age. He was the son of Daniel and Susan (Lockhart) Bugh. He moved to Pilot township, Cherokee county, with his parents at the age of six years, where he lived for a number of years before moving to Cherokee. He was preceded in death by his par- ents and six brothers. Two sisters and a number of nieces and nephews also sur- vive. The sisters are Mrs. Huldah Ensign of Griswold, Ia., and Mrs. Amanda Esh- leman, Worthington, Minn. Funeral services were held Monday, Oc- tober 10 at the Duven funeral home with Rev. J. A. Farnham in charge. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbear- ers were Perry Boughton, Lew Bader, Jer- ome Clow, John Bridie, Henry Bader and H. C. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Huldah Ensign, Griswold, Iowa, and Mrs. Amanda Eshle- man, Worthington, Minn., besides several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Duven funeral home with Rev. J. A. Farnham in charge.
