OBITS: Alma Stief; Cherokee County, Iowa =========================================================================== Alma Stief, 87, Aurelia Alma Dorothy Stief, 87, Aurelia, died at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia Feb 8, 1991. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 11, 1991 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aure- lia. Rev. David Renfro offi- ciated. Burial was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemet- ery, Storm Lake. Wharton-Redig Funeral Home of Aurelia was in charge of arrangements. She was born June 9, 1903 in rural Newell to Henry and Mary Bermann Wiebe. She married John Edward Stief on Dec. 26, 1923. She was a housewife and helped her husband on their farm. She moved from Aurelia to Storm Lake in 1969 after her. husband's death, then back to Aurelia to Sunset Knoll five years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 1969; one son, Robert; six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by three daughters, Helen Brehmer of Lake Wood, Calif., Darlene Nelson of Aurelia, and Shirley Walker of Waverly; a son, Chuck Stief of Marshalltown; 17 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; a brother-in- law, Carl Stief of Cherokee; a sister-in-law.
