OBITS: Robert Stief, Cherokee County, Iowa ========================================================================== Cherokee County, Iowa obituary - Robert Stief Robert Stief Robert John Stief, the son of John and Alma Wiebe Stief, was born July 14, 1927 at Aurelia, Iowa. He graduated from Brooke Con- solidated High School in 1944. He farmed with his father until December 1950 and was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Edna Jean Johannsen on March 14, 1954, at the Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa. They made their home at Spencer, Iowa. Bob was employed at the Peerless Hatchery and Ford Motor Com- pany before becoming a salesman for Witt Sales of Spencer for whom he worked for twenty one years. He was a member of the First English Lutheran, Church at Spencer. He passed away at Spencer, Iowa on April 19, 1989 at the age of 61. Preceding him in death was his father. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edna, two sons and their wives, Rick and Laura of Overland Park, Kansas, and Brian and Susan of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, one granddaughter, Erica of Overland Park, his mother, Alma Stief, living at Sunset Knoll, Aurelia, Iowa, three sisters, Helen Brehmer of Lakewood, California, Darlene and her husband Dean Nelson of Aurelia, Iowa, Shirley and her husband Dick Walker of- Waverly, Iowa, and one brother Charles and his wife Verda of Marshalltown, Iowa, along will, with other relatives and friends. Robert John Stief was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 5, 1950 and served in Germany. He received an honorable discharge on November 22, 1952. Funeral services were held at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer on Saturday, April 22, 1989. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Spencer with the Baumgarten Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements.
