Mrs. Mary Potter, Resident Until '46, Dies in California Funeral services were held at a mortuary in Coalinga, Calif., for Mrs. Mary Potter, a life-long resident of the Nashua-Republic area until moving to California in 1946. Mary Ann Castor was born nine miles east of Nashua and two miles north of Republic, Sept 10, 1864. She resided in this area until she and her husband, Hamon O. Potter, moved to Coalinga to be near their daughters. She passed away at her home in Coalinga Sept 29., at 11:30 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in December, 1950, after 65 years of married life. She also is survived by four daughters: Gladys, Mrs. Dee Petty, and Marge, Mrs. W.K. Kout, both of Coalinga; Fannie, Mrs. Howard Russell, San Francisco; and Faye, Mrs. John Eckstein, of Ripon, Wis. Mrs. Potter was one of nine children and three of the nine survive her. They are a sister, Ida, Mrs.Chambers of New Hampton; a brother, Charles, of New Hampton; and another brother, Grant, of Chicago. Funeral services Oct 1 were conducted by Remana Macon, C.S.,First Church of Christ, Scientist. Grandsons and friends were pallbearers. Interment was in Grangeville Cemetery. A note from Mrs. Petty, says, in part, "It is needless to tell you how much we miss her, but her suffering is over. She looked so beautiful and peaceful, so we must not wish her back here where she was no longer happy without our father, and unable to do the work in her home."
