Hance in the 55 year of his life. Born Ohio, 1833 Came to Iowa 1855, returned to Illinois in 1861, enlisted in the 1rst Regiment of Illinois volunteers. During the campaign culminating in the battle of Chickamunga, he was one of the bodyguard of General Rosecrans. At the close of the war in 1865 he came to this county where he has since resided. Farmer, leaves wife and 8 children, funeral in Ionia, Tuesday under Masonic and GAR auspices. Ionia News John Hance died Sunday evening at 7:30, typhoid and pneumonia. Sick 4 days. Rev. S.C. Britnell preaches. Funeral Services Tuesday at 11:00 in M.E. Church. Vinni and Charlie both quite low with the same disease. Additional Comments: Oldest son of Isaac and Caroline DeWitt Hance.
