"Death of John Hance." New Hampton Tribune, February 7, 1888. 
Died on Sunday night at his home near Ionia, John Hance of pneumonia. His 
remains will be placed in the Cemetery at Bassett today; The funeral services 
will be conducted by the masonic lodge of Bassett. We have no further 
particulars, but we know that Mr. Hance was an honest man and a good citizen 
and that all his relatives and friends will mourn his untimely death; we 
tender our sincere sympathy to all who suffer the loss of husband, father and 
son.
