IONIA - Obituary Of Mrs. Aletha Hill Way back in 1849 a Christmas gift came to the home Mrs. and Mrs. A. S. Potter, Jeddo, St. Clair Co., Michigan, (December 24th, 1849). Aletha I. Hill, who died December 24, 1932, at the home of her brother, I.M. Potter, thus completing her 83 years. She came with her parents to their prairie home in 1865, studied in Bradford Academy and taught with great success in this County in Crane Creek school eleven terms. After attending the Michigan State Normal School, she continued to teach in Michigan. she came back to Iowa to care for her aged mother until 1907 when she returned to Michigan. She married Aaron Hill in 1911 and lived in Avoca, Michigan. After the death of her husband in 1927, she came to Ionia in November , 1930, to the home of her brother I.M. Potter, who with her sisters, Mrs. Elsie Bigelow and mrs. Effie Stocks survive her. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, December 27th, with a short prayer at the home by Rev. Kent of Nashua and then to the Little Brown Church at Nashua. Conducted by Rev. kent, assisted by Rev. Charles Halbet of Ionia. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. many friends here extend sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
