J. D. Powers, hardware dealer, came to Spencer in 1878 from Butler county, Ia.,
and engaged in his present business. He carries a stock worth from ten to twelve
thousand dollars, and his sales average about $25,000 per annum. This is one of
the finest hardware stores in Western Iowa.
