There is a petition being circulated in Welton, opposing the pardoning of 
Shannon, the deliberate and cool blooded murderer of H. F. Irons. He was 
convicted in 1882 and sentenced to 15 years in the pen at Anamosa. Some think 
he has been punished enough.
