Lorinda Burnham was married to David Bentley in Washington county, New York, June 11, 1832. She was the mother of nine children, four sons and five daughters, six of them survive her, two sons and four daughters, also 29 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She emigrated with her husband from Warren county, New York to Jackson county, Iowa, landing in Maquoketa December 15, 1841. She united with the Baptist Church when about 20 years of age and was a consistent member up until her death. Her pastor, Rev. Langridge conducted the funeral services at the Union Church, which was thronged by relatives, friends and neighbors. Interment was in the Union cemetery. Rev. Langridge preached on Christian Sorrows for departed Christians, text 1st Thessalonians, 4-13.
