This was a sudden and very startling death, as the sickness was of short duration. While engaged at carpenter work about the Post Office, Tuesday the 17th, he was taken with a chill, which after arriving home was soon followed by another. A physician was at once sent for and attended him regularly until his death. He suffered great pain and his brief illness reduced him in flesh very much. Charlie Broxam was born near Welton, Clinton County, Iowa, and was aged 33 years. He was one of three children and the last to survive. Charlie was a young man and highly respected and had a host of friends wherever he was known. The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of the community. The funeral services will be conducted by the Jackson Lodge No. 33, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased was a recent member. Brief services will be held at the house on Matteson Avenue, Friday morning at 8:00 a.m., when the remains will be conveyed by train to DeWitt for burial.
