Rhode was born September 9, 1871 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and came to the United States in 1889. She was married to Henry J. Burmeister of near Grand Mound, February 15, 1899. The home was made in Grand Mound until 1907 when the family moved to a farm northeast of there. In 1935 they came to DeWitt where they lived until the death of Mr. Burmeister on May 3, 1941. Since that time Mrs. Burmeister has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John Peahl of near DeWitt. Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Peahl, are two sons, Alfred of DeWitt, Harry of Grand Mound; one sister, Mrs. Henry Jeffers of Grand Mound and six grandsons. The funeral was held at McGinnis funeral home, the Rev. J. A. Miller of St. Paul' English Lutheran Church, Davenport, officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
