Rev. Vollmer delivered the eulogy and conducted the services at the grave, interment being made in the Lost Nation Cemetery. Dorothea Wilhelmina Johanna Burmeister, nee Beuthin, was born in Pronsdorf, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, August 9, 1855. She united in marriage with John Burmeister on the 19th of May, 1876, and to this union were born twelve children. In 1885 they imigrated to this country and settled on a farm in South Grove, where they resided until three years ago when they retired to Lost Nation. For upwards of 15 years Mrs. Burmeister had been a sufferer, and medical treatment failed to bring but temporary relief. Wednesday afternoon, July 1, she departed from this life at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 22 days. Her demise is mourned by her husband, eight sons: Henry of Smithtown, Emil of South Grove, Carl of Nashville, Otto and Herman of Carroll, Iowa, and John, Albert and Leo of Lost Nation. Three daughters: Mary of North Dakota, Clara and Ella of home.
