Private services will be at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home on Wednesday. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton. He was born on July 31, 1923, in Savanna, Ill., the son of George and Nellie Lingle. He married Leafy Johnson on June 29, 1952, in Clinton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was employed at DuPont in Clysar and in maintenance from1945 until retiring in 1985. Survivors include: his wife, Leafy Lingle of Clinton; two daughters, Janice Lingle of Camanche and Deb Lingle of Clinton; two sons, Raymond (Patty) Lingle of Chelan, Wash., and Keith Lingle of Clinton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one Brother, Richard (Mary) Lingle of Clinton; and two sisters, Betty Mull of Clinton and Virginia Weidemann. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association or the First United Methodist Church. Death date: Oct. 23, 2003. GRAND MOUND - Roberta A. Claussen, 89, Grand Mound, died Thursday at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. Pallbearers will be George Henningsen, Alan Henningsen, David Grantz, Dennis Stolk, Chuck Claussen and Dean Geise. She was born Oct. 3, 1914, in Preston to Henry and Lena Hansen Lamp. On June 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Robert Charles Claussen in Preston. They farmed near Grand Mound. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound, where she had been a LWML League Member and had been on the District Board of LWML. She was Clinton County spelling bee organizer, chariman of the American Heart Association for 20 years, on the Clinton County Board of Health, Clinton County School Board, "Mother of the Year" in Clinton County and runner-up "Mother of Year" for the State of Iowa, Chairman of Ladies Farm Bureau Clinton and Chairman of DeWitt Republican Womens organization. Survivors include three sons, Robert (Linda) Claussen Jr., Grand Mound, Dr. Richard (Linda) Claussen, Dubuque, and Ronald (Donna) Claussen, Grand Mound; eight grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Mae Manikowski, Maquoketa. He was born May 6, 1908, in Low Moor to Wesley and Frances Fuller Lee. On June 5, 1929, he was united in marriage to Thelma Hudson in the Low Moor Methodist parsonage. She died July 18, 2001. They farmed northwest of DeWitt, retiring in 1975. While living on the farm, he had been a school board director of the Sunnyside country school. He was a 50-plus-year member of the DeWitt United Methodist Church. He belonged to several card clubs. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ruth (Bill) Hanesworth, DeWitt; two sons, Richard (Dorothy) Lee of Eldridge, and Robert (Ramona) Lee of DeWitt; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. MORRISON, Ill. - Claudia Tomlinson, 93, Morrison, died Friday at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, preceded at 10:15 a.m. by a family prayer service. Dr. Calvin J. Rynbrandt, pastor of the Ebenezer Reformed Church, will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Dalton, Matthew Millerschone, Brian, Douglas and Tracy Van Oosten, Jeffrey Decker and Lisa Tomlinson. She was born Feb. 5, 1910, in Morrison to Ralph and Anna (Vogel) Hook. On Jan. 22, 1944, she married Leon E. Tomlinson Jr. in Oak Park, Ill. He died Dec. 26, 1987. She was educated in rural Whiteside County schools. She, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Tomlinson Funeral Home in Morrison. She was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church, was a member of the church's Ladies Aid, Philathea and Lydia societies. She was also a member of the Morrison American Legion and the VFW Ladies auxiliaries, the Morrison Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She served as an election judge for Mount Pleasant Township. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Linda (Gordon) Millerschone of Morrison and Mrs. Nancy (Dan) Van Oosten of Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, George Tomlinson of Morrison. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, with the Rev. John K. Sterling officiating. Burial will be in the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Wapsie Post 473 of Oxford Junction. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hayden and Lahey Funeral Home, Oxford Junction, where a vigil service will be conducted at 8 p.m. The body has been cremated. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Marion to Maynard and Mathilda Stratilek Coon. He married Marguerite Buresh on June 21, 1948, in Oxford Junction. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1934. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a gunnery instructor. He owned and operated Coons Corner for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford Junction, a 59- year member of the American Legion Wapsie Post 473 of Oxford Junction, a 50- year member of Ducks Unlimited, a charter member of the Oxford Junction Conservation League and was a volunteer of the Oxford Junction Fire Department. She was born May 28, 1937, in Dubuque to Ralph and Ruth Jones Marshall. She married Don Jensen on April 19, 1971, in Cleveland, Tenn. She was the owner and operator of Cinderella Beauty Salon, Clinton. She later operated a salon from her home for more than 15 years. She owned and operated Rose Ann's Original's, Miles. She traveled throughout the Midwest marketing her clothing at numerous trade shows. She was employed with local businesses including the former Clinton Garment Factory, Kmart and the Alverno Health Care Facility. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was active with the church councils. Burial of the cremains will be at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, at 4 p.m. Tuesday. She was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Jewell to Gus and Mary Rasmussen Wentzel. She married Raymond L. Miller on Oct. 14, 1937, in Webster City. He died in 1987. She was a Jewell High School graduate. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara (Lanny) Reed of Clinton and Mrs. Patricia (Wesley) Benson of Cedar Falls; one son, Charles W. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Otter Creek, with the Rev. Thomas J. Ralph officiating. Burial was in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Otter Creek. Visitation was Sunday at the Lahey Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa where the Catholic Daughters of America recited a rosary. Pallbearers were Brett, Adam and Ryan Marcus, Richard McMahon, Tony Hughes and Bill Casel. She was born May 15, 1914, in Sylvia Switch to Thomas and Lena Duehr Lyons. She married Raymond Marcus on June 24, 1944, at the Nativity Church in Dubuque. He died in 1999. She was a school teacher for many years and did the bookkeeping for their farm. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, a 50-year member of Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Raphael 1156, Maquoketa, was a past secretary for the Jackson County Fair Horse Show and the Otter Creek Saddle Club. She was active with the Otter Creek 4-H Clubs. He was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Clinton to William and Anna Peters Bauer. He married Arthera Adams on Nov. 22, 1939, in Clinton. She died in 1977. He later married Charlotte Osmundson on Jan. 6, 1979, in Clinton. She died in 1990. He attended the Sherman, Hampshire 5 School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1944 to 1946. He was the owner and operator of William P. Bauer Painting and Decorating. He was a member of the Moose 363, American Legion 677, Lyons Masonic Lodge 93 A.F. and A.M., Clinton Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies, KAABA Shrine, VFW, the Eagles Club and the AMVETS. Dobling, 57, of Oxford Junction, died Saturday at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction with the Rev. John K. Sterling officiating. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Wapsie Post 473, Oxford Junction. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayden and Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. A vigil service will be conducted at 8 p.m. He was born June 27, 1946, in Davenport to Lowell and Irene Bicknese Dobling. On Aug. 18, 1973, he married Barbara Healey in Providence, R.I. They lived in Anamosa until moving to Oxford Junction. He attended school in Lost Nation during his junior high years and then attended the Oxford Junction schools and graduated in 1964. He later attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in sociology. In 1969 he entered the United States Army and served with the military police. He was discharged in 1971. After his discharge he worked as an activities director and counselor with the Iowa State Reformatory in Anamosa for four years. He and his wife purchased the Sobotka Insurance Agency in 1977. He owned and operated the Dobling Insurance Agency in Oxford Junction until his death. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he had served on the Parish Finance Board, a member of the American Legion Wapsie Post 473 where he had served as commander and was a volunteer of the Oxford Junction Fire Department. He was active in community economic development and many other community projects over the years. He was a member of Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, the National Federation of Independent Businessmen and Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian Dobling of Georgetown, Colo., and Michael Dobling of Madison, Wis.; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Dobling of Ames; his mother, Irene Edna Sobotka and stepfather, Arnold Sobotka, both of Oxford Junction; and a brother, Robert (Arlette) Dobling of Marion. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Death Date: Oct. 25, 2003 Tommy Jay Goodell, 37, of DeWitt, died Thursday. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. Service of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Keith Speaks will be officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus. He was employed with Cargill Seed, Low Moor, for 12 years, and with TC's in DeWitt, Scott County Redi-Mix and Talent Tree Temporary Services. Holtz, age 79 of Clinton, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Mercy North Medical Center in Clinton, from a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 AM at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 - 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at Rastrelli's. Pallbearers will be Wayne and Dean Eggers, Billy Rogis, Mike Jurgensen, Mark Hake, and Terry Edwards. Donald was born May 7, 1924 in Maquoketa, IA, the son of Fred and Marjorie (Weeman) Holtz. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII from 1943-1946, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. Donald married Valeria Wittek on Nov. 12, 1964 in Clinton, IA; she died in 1991. He worked at E.I. DuPont as a lead burner for over 37 years; retiring in 1985. Donald was a All-State Football player in Iowa in High School. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed using his computer to communicate with his family and watching his investments in the stock market. Donald is survived by his three daughters - Mrs. Lori (Tim) Caffery of Clinton, IA, Kathleen Stratis and Frances Poulosky both of Ponca, NE; his son - Rick Wittek of Clinton, IA; and three sisters - Irene Huncke and Mrs. Helen (Hubert) Testroet both of Davenport, IA, and Mrs. Delores (LaVerne) Rowson of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, and a brother. ONSLOW - George Dusanek, 94, of Onslow, died Sunday at his home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, Wyoming, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Langley officiating. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hayden and Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming. He was born April 3, 1909, in rural Wyoming to Joseph and Rose Kosticek Dusanek. He married Clara Mae Klinefelter on Feb. 24, 1937, in Anamosa. She died in 2001. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1928. He was a farmer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wyoming, and the Midland Council of Churches. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eileen (Sam) Ajiri of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Rosalie (Ken) Russell of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Margaret (Chris) Kyrtsos of Southfield, Mich.; three sons, John (Cleo Kaye) Dusanek of Wyoming, Norman (Folashade) Dusanek of Los Angeles, Calif., and Marvin (Nancy) Dusanek of Monticello; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Howard Klinefelter of Topeka, Kan. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and an NRA supporter. She was a homemaker and had owned and operated the former Coffee Cup Cafe in Clinton. Survivors include two sons, Joseph and Howard Stahmer, both of Clinton; two daughters, JoAnne Harris and Tammy Boutwell, both of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. JoAnne (Richard) Lueders of Arizona. He was born May 23, 1919, in Wacker, Ill., to John R. and Rose E. Warfield LaShelle. He married Frances M. Potter on Sept. 21, 1940, in Clinton. He was educated in the Hickory Grove and Plum Grove schools in rural Carroll County, Ill. He attended Savanna High School, Savanna, Ill. He was employed with Carstensen Freight Lines, Inc., Clinton, as a truck driver. He was a member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Fulton Lions Club. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Sandra (Jeff) Shadle of Ohio, Ill.; two sons, Gary (Mary) LaShelle of Oroville, Wash., and Ronald (Mary) LaShelle of Albany, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and Harbor Crest Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by one grandson, two sisters and two brothers. Death Date: Oct. 26, 2003 Bette Ann Knepper, 61, of Long Grove, died Sunday Trinity Hospital-North Campus, Davenport. Family and friends may visit the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 12:30 until the service hour at 2 p.m. Thursday. She was born Oct. 6, 1942, to Ira and Gladys Beardsley Ramsey. She married James A. Knepper Sr. in Unionville, Mo. For many years she had worked with Cargill Seeds, DeWitt, and later with the Super 8 Motel, Davenport. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debbie Starr of Eldridge and Becky Sue Seibert of Davenport; three sons, Pete (Derlyin) Knepper of Long Grove, John (Alicia) Knepper of Eldridge and James Allan Knepper Jr. of Bettendorf; three stepsons, Mike, Todd and Jeff Knepper; two sisters, Mary Coleman of St. John's, Mich., and Darlyn of Unionville; two brothers, Vinson Ramsey of LeClaire and Howard Ramsey of Unionville.
