Clinton, Iowa, December 6, 1895 

Today occurred the death of Dr. A. J. Hobart, aged 67, one of the most 
prominent physicians of eastern Iowa. His death was partly due to a runaway 
accident September 20th. He was during the war surgeon of the Fifth Michigan 
Infantry and had resided in Clinton since 1865. For seventeen years until his 
ill health interfered, he was surgeon for the Chicago and Northwestern 
Railway. He was a Mason, member of the G.A.R. and of five medical societies.
