Carl A. Johnson, 85, of Clinton, died Wednesday at Wyndcrest Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fulton (Ill.) Chapel of
the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Machen, pastor of Church of
the Open Door, Clinton, officiating. Interment will be at Fulton Township
Cemetery with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Clinton to Ernest E. and August R. Ludwig Johnson.
He married Irene Sullivan. He then married Frances Larkey on June 5, 1951, in
Thomson, Ill. She died in 1987. He then married Ethel Matczak. He then married
Geraldine Rice on April 7, 1998 in Camanche. She died in 2004.

He attended school in Fulton and Albany, Ill.

He was a military police officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a police officer in Fulton. He also was on over the road truck
driver, most recently driving for General Electric in Morrison, Ill., retiring
in 1985.

He was a member of the area VFW, and a member of the Fulton and Thomson American
Legions.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Rock of Phoenix; one son, Raymond
C. (Karen) Johnson, Sr. of Thomson; eight grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren;
one great-great- grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn White of St. Louis and
Mrs. Theola Via of Savanna, Ill.
