Lampe, Sr., 617 Sixth Avenue South, was killed in action May 17 on Wake Island, according to a war department message to his parents Saturday. Pvt Lampe, born in Clinton, February 9, 1925 was inducted into service June 23, 1943, at the end of his junior year in Clinton High School. He had been an honor student his last year in school. He received training first at Camp Roberts, Calif., was sent to Camp Ord, Calif., and from there went to Australia in January of this year. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, and the V.F.W. drum and bugle corps, Clinton High School band, and had played some in orchestras. Surviving are his parents, four brothers, Howard of Dubuque, Pvt Paul of Camp Gruber, Okla., Pvt Frederick, Jr, who is in the Hawaiian Islands, and Robert of Clinton; and two sisters, Mrs. Emmett Jordan and Miss Helen Lampe of the home.
