Stuhldryer, 86, of Savanna, died Sunday, March 12, at his home. Harvey was formerly a longtime resident of Clinton, Iowa. During his younger years, he farmed in Iowa, then he worked in a factory in the Amana Colonies. After that, he owned and operated a restaurant in Baldwin, Iowa, and finally worked as a master plumber for Bosson & Totten in Clinton, Iowa, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Saddle Club in Maquoketa, Iowa, and enjoyed horses, gardening and fishing. He was a cousin to Harry Stuhldreher who was one of the famous four horsemen of Notre Dame football from 1922-1925. Mr. Stuhldryer was born June 11, 1908 in Rice Lake, Wis., to Anthony and Josephine (Holkam) Stuhldryer. He married Lila Asklund – Proesch in 1936. He later married Marjorie Spalding in 1968. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Watters of Boone, Iowa, and Mrs. Martin (Marie) Hansen and Mrs. John (Barbara) Weltz, both of Savanna; five sons, Larry (Donna) Stuhldryer of Clinton, Iowa, Dennis (Diana) Stuhldryer and Reginald (Connie) Stuhldryer, both of Boone, Iowa, Curtis (Joan) Stuhldryer of Camanche, Iowa and Arley Stuhldryer of Portland, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, his parents, one sister and five brothers. The body was cremated. Memorial services were held Wednesday at Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna with Brent Hall of the Oak Park Bible Church in Savanna officiating.
