Topf jjtopf1@netzero.net August 8, 2006, 8:49 am Donna Johnson, clerk, Clinton County Marriage Records Old Book #1 p - - - Certificate No.: Doc (number not listed) License granted April 7, 1864 Marriage performed April 21, 1864 by A. Meis, Catholic Priest License signed, returned for recording May 18, 1864 Lyons Additional Comments: Personally verified spelling of wife's last name with James Topf on July 19, 2006 in Marriage Records office in Clinton. Spelling is not 'Toljan' as listed currently online, but Toljen - with an 'e'. Easily verified by comparison of other script 'e' letters in nearby names in book. First name of priest, by other records is Aloysius. Also directly assisted by Clinton County Recorder, Charlie Sheridan, who also helped locate Property Deeds of Gustav Amos Topf and wife, Margaretha Toljen, in Lyons, who owned a farm at present day 1337 Main Street, Lyons District of Clinton. This property was the site of historic One-Mile House, a way-stop for travelers into/out of Lyons though now demolished yet which the water pump still stands and operates. Gustav is great-great uncle to James J. Topf, 4th generation.
