Vernon John Grant                      (From the collection of Vivian Norby 
Andersen)

	Vernon John Grant, Soldier, Iowa, died on July 16, 1985, at Crawford 
County Hospital in Denison, Iowa.  Death came at the age of 81 years, 4 
months, and 13 days.  
	He was born at Dow City, Iowa, on March 3, 1904, the son of Adam and 
Minnie Pilote Grant.  He married Maxine Young on September 19, 1928, at 
Nevada, Iowa.   Mrs. Grant died January 11, 1968, at Iowa City, Iowa.
	Survivors include four sons, James of North Glenn, Colo., Gerald of 
Castana, a son of Soldier, and a son  of Hope, Arkansas, three daughters, 
twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren, and three 
sisters, Mrs. Harlo (Rita) Henry of Omaha, Mrs. Martin (Myrtie) Longlee, Sioux 
City and Mrs. Ronald (Edith) Craft of Veneta, Ore.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maxine, and a son, 
John, a brother, a sister, and a grandson.
