Pastor, 87, Dies;
Services Friday                                   (From the collection of 
Vivian Norby Andersen)

	  The Rev. Fred E. Hamlin, 87, of Independence, Iowa, formerly pastor 
of First Presbyterian Church in Denison, died Sunday at Independence, IA.
	
	
	He was born April 1, 1883, in Crawford County, Ohio.  He married Jenny 
Schuetz.  She died April 1, 1960.
	He married Bessie Bates Norton Nov. 7, 1955, at Independence.
	
	Survivors include the widow; three sons, Glenn of Olathe, Kan., Dr. 
Wendell of Mineral Point, Wis., and Dr. Richard of Downer Grove, Ill.; two 
daughters, Mrs. Roy (Lena) Swain of Soldier and Mrs. L. D. (Elsie) Apperson of 
Meriden, N. J.; a sister, Mrs. John G. (Grace) Englebreight of Augustana, 
Kan.; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
