Mrs. Axel Lund
Laid To Rest                           (From the collection of Vivian Norby

	Mrs. Axel Lund, 59, died suddenly Friday of a heart attack at her home 
in Soldier.  Death came without warning while Mr. and Mrs. Lund were in their 
living room.  Mrs. Lund had just sat down in her chair and she fell to the 
floor only a couple of feet from where her husband was sitting.  She had not 
been feeling well for a few weeks and doctors had told her she would probably 
have to go to the hospital if she didn’t improve within another week.
	Mrs. Lund and her husband moved to Soldier from the farm several years 
ago where they have lived a quiet life among their friends.
	Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Tuesday 
afternoon with Pastor Maynard Moen officiating.  Mrs. Norman C. Hanson 
sang “Softly and Tenderly” and “Abide With Me”, accompanied by Mrs. Harry 
Andersen at the organ.  Burial was in the Jordan Cemetery under the direction 
of Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.  Pallbearers were cousins of Mrs. Lund, 
Henry, Edgar, Walter, Arthur, George and Rudolph Meseck.
	Martha, daughter of John Stoll and Tracy Meseck, was born in Jordan 
township near Soldier, September 29, 1901 and passed away at her home in 
Soldier December 30, 1960 at the age of 59 years, 3 months and 1 day.
	She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Charter Oak 
where she had lived for ten years and attended school.  
	She was united in marriage to Axel Lund on June 6, 1922 at Charter 
Oak.  Following their marriage they farmed for several years and then upon 
retiring from the farm moved to Soldier where they lived ever since.
	The only survivors besides her husband are several cousins.
