Funeral services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church Saturday, June 11 with Pastor Harry Sorensen giving the sermon. Mrs. Bernard Berens was soloist and sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Abide With Me”, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Harry Andersen. Interment was in Soldier Valley cemetery with the Soldier Legion Post having the military rites. Active bearers were Gale Lee, Bryce Lee, Virgil Olson, Bernard Thoreson, Gordon Clemon and Stanley Frydenlund. Honorary bearers were James Longlee, Lawrence Major, Bernard Berens, John Keuter, Dwayne Hanson and Milford Hanson. Dave had been a resident of the Soldier community since 1955 and lived at Dunlap prior to that time. He operated Pedersen Oil Co. here and when his health failed, sold the business to Vernon Mauch. He was active in community, church and Legion affairs and was one of Soldier’s finest boosters. His military duty was the Navy during World War II. David Harold Pedersen, son of N. M. and Clara Pedersen, was born at Dunlap, Iowa March 21, 1918 and passed from this life at the Veterans’ hospital in Omaha on Wednesday, June 8, 1966. He had reached the age of 48 years, two months and 17 days. He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church. On February 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Norma Rae Wright at Dunlap. Survivors include his wife; three daughters all at home; his father, N. M.
