Margaret Rood, 89, of Arion died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003,  Harlan, Iowa.

Margaret Pearl Rood was born June 17, 1913, the daughter of Ernest and Eva 
Marie (Hansen) Spreng, on a farm north of Arion. On July 18, 1934, married 
Clarence Rood at the Methodist Parsonage in Arion, 

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Rood of Arion, Lyle Rood and his wife, 
Barbara, of Templeton, Iowa, and Alan Rood and his wife, Karen, of Sioux City; 
seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 
two sisters, Gladys Fox of Hillsboro, Ore., and Grace and her husband, Louis 
Lorenzen, of Omaha; two brothers, Andrew Spreng of Reno, Nev., and Walter 
Spreng and his wife, Beverly, of Hillsboro, Ore.; a sister-in-law, VaNetta 
Spreng of Arion; and many other relatives and friends.
