YOU WILL FIND IN THE DALLAS COUNTY LIBRARY A HISTORY OF THE COUNTY CONTAINING 
THE NAME OF THE FIRST SETTLER  --  HIS NAME IS LEWIS EDWARD STUMP -- HIS 
BROTHER DANIEL AND HIS SISTER MARY CAME IN THE SPRINGTIME AND THE FIRST 
MARRIAGE (TO MR. GEORGE HAWORTH)IN THE COUNTY WAS AT THE HOME OF LEWIS E. 
STUMP AND THE FIRST FUNERAL WAS HELD THERE ALSO (JOHN COFFIN WAS THE FIRST 
DEATH IN THE COUNTY AND IS BURIED IN THE CLAYTON CEMETERY) HE WAS VISITING THE 
STUMP FAMILY AND BECAME ILL.
