BIOGRAPHIES
STATE SENATORS

FRANK M. STEVENS, GARDEN GROVE. - Senator from the fifth district,  
consisting of Decatur, Ringgold and Union counties, was born on a farm near 
Salem, Illinois, May 14, 1872.  He went to Chicago at the age of fifteen,  an
orphan, and became superintendent of Empire Warehouses, Inc., of Chicago, at 
the age of 26.  Married Evelyn M. Payne and has three daughters, Martha,  Helen
and Evelyn.  Moved to Iowa and entered the mercantile business at  Floria in
1903.  Moved to Garden Grove, Decatur county, in 1920 and  continued in
mercantile business there.  Member of Methodist church.  Serving first term in
the legislature.  A democrat.
