Monahan Services for Mrs. Lucy E. Monahan, 87, of 612 S.E. Hughes Ave., will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial in Peoria Cemetery at Maxwell. Mrs. Monahan died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Commonwealth Care Center, 5608 S.W. Ninth St., after an illness of two years. A retired variety store employe, she was born in Salem, Ohio, and lived in Valeria, Ia., before moving to Des Moines 45 years ago. Surviving are two sons, Forrest and Elmer, and a daughter, Mrs. Rosamond Quinnett, all of Des Moines; a brother, James Southerland, who lives in Michigan; four sisters, Mrs. Verla Pease, Mrs. Audrey Shissier and Mrs. Lula Beals, all of Colfax, and a sister who lives in Michigan; 26 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
