      SYMPATHY FOR THEIR COMRADE

Union Veterans' Union Adopts Resolutions & Condolence
   The following resolutions were unanimously adopted by
General Tuttle's command No. 17, U.V.U., at their 
meeting on December 31, 1898:
   "Again were are reminded that we are but mortals.
   Lou Bell Purcell was born at Newark, N. J., on
August 25, 1835, and on the 15th day of January, 1857,
was married to N. W. Rozelle at Greensburg, Ind. They
have resided in Des Moines since 1881 and during those
years they have made many warm friends.
   "Mrs. Rozelle was an invalid for nearly five years
and a large portion of the time was helpless; still
her faith was never shaken in him "that doeth all
things well." and on the 8th day of December, 1898, 
she was called home by the Father of us all, leaving
a husband and five children.
    "Mrs. Rozelle was a kind and loving wife and 
mother and was endeared to all by both faith and
works, and the world is the better for her having lived
in it, and she has gone to her reward.
    "Resolved. That we extend to Col. Rozelle, his family
and friends, our sincere sympathy in the hour of their
bereavement and the adjutant is instructed to deliver
a copy to Col. Rozelle and also send a copy to each
of the daily papers in the city.
   "I hereby certify that the above is a true copy."
                              WARREN WALKER
