Information was found in the Burlington Weekly Hawk Eye (Burlington, Iowa)
on February 5, 1880;  Page 7:

Marriage Licenses Issued by the Clerk of the Courts.

  During the first month of the leap year there were only seventeen
marriage licenses issued by the clerk of the courts, against twenty-six
issued during the month of January last year.  The young folks will
probably do better before the year closes.  The following are the names of
those who were united:

Dangerfield F. Lance and Miss Ellen Webster.
E**ia ****beroft and Miss Sara Selser.  (His name very hard to read
W. R. Johnson and Miss Elizabeth Foster.
J. R. Burnham and Miss Emma M. Elliott.
Lafayette Washington and Miss Elizabeth Talser (Sp?)
W. S. **ettand and Miss Mary McPartland.
Charles Rupp and Miss May J. Carr.
Joseph Knopp and Miss Emma Kruse.
Charles Weiss and Miss Rosa Waltz.
Frank C. Rotukery and Miss Emma Smith.
Clarence A. Rouse and Miss Clara B. Robinson.
Charles * Nie*ann and Miss Lizzie Schlager.  (His name was very hard to
read, think middle initial may be C.)
P. Hall and Miss Mary C. Leiphart.
John E. Simmons and Miss  lara Shephard  (Think her first name is missing
one letter, because of the double spacing)
W. M. Bell and Miss Ella Gibbs.
Jobert J. Moore and Miss Eliza J. Babb.
