>From the 1882 Iowa State Gazetteer and Business Directory: DYERSVILLE. An incorporated town of 1,200 inhabitants on the Maquoketa river, in Dubuque county, and a station on the I. div. I.C.R.R., 29 miles west of Dubuque (c h). The churches are Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, Congregational and Episcopal. The schools are public, graded and well organized. One weekly newspaper is published- the Commercial. Shipments, grain, live stock and produce. The surrounding country is particularly adapted to grazing, and it is claimed that Dyersville is one of the important stock markets of the state. Improved land from $40 to $60 per acre.
