Karrick— "Michael G. Karrick died at West Dubuque, Sunday evening last, in the midst of his family and friends, a little upwards of forty-five years old. His funeral occurred yesterday afternoon, and his remains were interred in Linwood. His youth was associated with the earlier history of Dubuque and the adjacent country; he was born on the Illinois side of the river, a few miles inland, when the country was a howling wilderness and scarcely a white man was to be found in it. Brought up to pioneer life, when he had attained his maturity he crossed the plains to California, nearly twenty years ago, and after passing through the varied vicessetudes of life in that then wild and lawless country for several years, returned to Dubuque; a number of years ago he went to Rodney, Miss., where he remained until last summer, his health became impaired, and he decided to return to Dubuque toward the close of September; his wife went to meet him there and accompanied him to our cooler clime in the hope that he would be benefitted by it. The change did not bring healing to his wasted health, however, and he was borne away on the time of eternity. He leaves a wife and six children, the eldest of whom is a son 10 years old." Additional Comments: We know this last statement is incorrect as the eldest was Amanda who was 17 at the time.
