    JOHN J. O'BRIEN

    John J. O'Brien, age 79, passed away at 12:10 a.m., Sunday, December 31st in
an Independence hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Devaney
Funeral Home to St. Patrick's church, North Garry Owen, where the Mass of
Requiem was read by the Pastor, the Rev. James Cassidy, who also preached the
sermon and officiated at the graveside services.\ in the parish cemetery.

    The deceased was born in Bernard March 14, 1882, the son of Maurice and
Honora (McCarthy) O'Brien. He farmed all his life. He had resided in Dubuque for
the past ten years. He is survived by one brother, Charles of Bernard, nieces
and nephews. Pallbearers were Gerald Feeney, John Meloy, Elmer Meloy, Walter
Meloy, Frank Meloy, John Molony, Joe Cannon and Neil Cook.
