Older records were destroyed when the Courthouse in West Union burned. In 1946, there were 26 pupils-grades one through eight. Teachers salary at that time was $155 per month. In 1947 the grades were divided and two teachers were hired one for upper and one for lower grades. Donnan was an Independent District in Center Township, having five directors. At one time there were grades nine and ten of high school, also. After the closing of the school, it was bought and used as a weekend home during the summers.
