Thursday, Jan 16, 1958 Charles City Press. Ben Johnson Heart Victim. Thursday, Jan 16, 1958. Charles City, IA.. Ben H. Johnson, 79, a resident of Floyd and a lifelong resident of Floyd County, died at 4:15 p.m. yesterday while being admitted to the Cedar Valley hospital. He was in Charles City transacting business and became ill while seated in his car. His son, Merrill, who was with him, rushed him directly to the hospital where he died shortly after arriving there. Death was attributed to a hear attack. He had several slight attacks before his final illness, and had been under a physician’s care. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Floyd Methodist church. The Rev. E.G. Steinman will officiate. Mr. Johnson was born Sept 5, 1878, the son of Ed and Julia Gutches Johnson. He was married to Anna Lesch, July 3, 1918 at Osage. Mr. Johnson had lived in Floyd the past six years. Before that he lived three miles northeast of Floyd. The past few years he had been an agent for the DeKalb Seed Corn Co. He was a member of the Floyd Methodist church, the Brotherhood of the church and the woodman Lodge. Surviving are his widow, Anna, and his son, who lives on the home farm near Floyd. There is one grandchild and a brother, Lee Johnson living near Floyd, who also survives. Burial will be in the Oakwood cemetery near Floyd with the Hauser Funerla Home in Charge of arrangements.
