Blunk, who for eighteen years had been manager of the local electric light plant, passed away Friday morning after a brief illness from heart trouble and other complications. He had been confined to his bed but a few days. He had kept in touch with his work at the light plant up to the last week. Frank M Blunk was born near Lexington, Illinois, April 4, 1862, and died at Hamburg August 11, 1916, having reached the age of 54 years 4 months and 5 days. His early life was spent near Lexington, after which he lived at Wyoming, Illinois, for a short time. From there he came to Hamburg, and took charge of the light plant here, for which position he had been fully fitted by his earlier training. He was married in 1900 to Cora Blackburn, who with three children survives him. He is also survived by three children from a former marriage, and by four brothers and one sister. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. A.C. Bocham. The local lodge of the Knights and Ladies of Security, of which he was a member, attended the services in a body. Interment took place in the Hamburg Cemetery. Mr. Blunk, in his position of manager of the light plant, was an important figure in the business life of the community, and will be missed by all those who knew him. He was an expert mechanic and a good business man and the position he leaves vacant will be hard to fill.
