Whisler, a prominent citizen of this place, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon from heart failure. Mr. Whisler had been working around the home nearly all the morning putting in a little patch of ground to alfalfa. It is supposed he over exerted himself and it brought on a fainting spell about 11 o'clock and at 1 o'clock died. Mr. Whisler had not worked hard for the last twenty years, but was always busy around the home doing a little work to keep up his place. He leaves besides his widow, four sons and one daughter; Chas. E., Frank, H.A., and Mrs. J.H. Livingston all living a few miles south of town and W.E. who lives in Shenandoah. At this time, no arrangements have been made for the funeral. Shenandoah Daily World Shenandoah, Iowa 7 September 1916 Farragut Citizen Dropped Dead John M. Whisler, a prominent and well known citizen of Farragut, dropped dead of heart failure about 10 o'clock Wednesday. He lived on a farm south of town for many years and about three years ago he and his wife moved to town, purchasing the house which R.O. Henstorf had built just before that. He leaves four sons, Will of Shenandoah, Chas. Frank and Al of near here and one daughter, Mrs. John Livingston besides his wife. He was a faithful member of the Christian Church and was president of the board at the time of his death. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
