Henry Scott died at his home three miles north of Stratford at four o'clock Sunday morning March 10, 1907. The community was shocked as the news of this death spread over the neighborhood as few knew of his sickness. He was stricken with paralysis about eight o'clock Saturday morning and remained in an unconcious condition till four o'clock Sunday morning when death relieved him of his suffering. Mr. Scott was a pioneer of Hamilton county having come here 37 years ago. He leaves nine children to mourn his loss, seven sons and two daughters - all of whom were at his funeral except one son who lives in Nebraska. His wife preceded him to the beyond some twenty years ago. Mr. Scott was an old soldier of the Civil War and always enjoyed the old soldier's meetings with much pleasure. The funeral was held from the McKinney school house at 11 o'clock Wednesday conducted by Rev. Benjamin of Stratford. Although the day was stormy a large number were out tp pay their last respects to an old friend and neighbor. Additional Comments: William Henry Scott was the father of 13 children. His wife, Priscilla Robinson, died 8 Mar 1888. They are both buried in Neese Cemetery near Bell's Mill, norhteast of Stratford, Iowa.
