Mrs. J. V. Harrington Passed Away Sunday, Following Closely the Death of Her Daughter. Lived in Hancock 27 years. Never have the people of Britt and vicinty been more shocked than on last Sunday afternoon when the announcement was made that Mrs. J. V. Harrington had passed away at 2:10. The deceased's maiden name was Mary Elizabeth Hoy. She was born at Dubuque, Iowa, Nov. 1 1860. She was married to Mr. L. V. Harrington at Humboldt, Iowa on November 24, 1879. They came to Hancock County in 1893 and resided on a farm near Woden until 1915, when they moved to Britt which has since been their home. Mrs. Harrington was a woman devoted to her family and church, always kind, doing good for others, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her going cast a mantle of gloom and sadness over her family, because this is the second great loss they have been called upon to suffer, as she and her daughter's death were only eleven days apart. She leaves to mourn her loss a kind husband, four children, Sister Mary Vincentia of the Visitation Academy, Dubuque, Iowa, Robert, Mary, and Vincentia at home, and four little grandchildren, besides two brothers and two sisters, all of whom were present to attend the funeral. The relatives from out of town were Mr. Thos. M. Hoy, Auburn, N. Y. and Mrs. Fred Peterkin, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The funeral services, which were private, were conducted by Rev. Fr. Quirin at the home at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday morning. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. ==========================================================================================
