Pastor Merlin C. Petersen officiated using 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 as his text. Mrs. Merlin Petersen, organist, accompanied Mrs. Dean Cataldo and B.C. Berge who sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth", as a duet. Ushers were Merlin Bierman, Spencer Ollenburg and Arnold Steege. Casketbearers were: LaVurne Josten; Parker Smith, Ronald Bachman, David Jurgemeyer, Leland Jurgemeyer and William Jurgemeyer. Burial was in Concord Cemetery in Garner. Cataldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Alfred William Jurgemeyer, was born November 10, 1913 at Blairstown, Iowa, the son of William and Anna (Sandersfeld) Jurgemeyer. At the age of 3 months, he moved to a farm southeast of Garner with his family. On December 30, 1937, he married Gladys Louise Meinders at Klemme. They farmed southeast of Garner on the Jurgemeyer homeplace until they moved into Garner in 1970. He served as Hancock County Supervisor from 1969-74 and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garner. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry as hobbies. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Mrs. Egon (Elaine) Weaver of Boone; a son, Vernon and his wife, Diane, of Klemme; his grandchildren, Kent and Heather Weaver and Raquel and Karla Jurgemeyer; 2 brothers, Louis of Klemme and Everett of Rockwell; and his father-in-law, John Meinders of Klemme. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Bachman.
