Crane, deputy postmaster and grocer, was born in Rochester, Minn., in April, 1860; removed with parents to Jeddo, Harrison county, Ia., in 1862; the next year they moved to a farm two miles from Woodbine. He is a graduate of Miller's Mercantile College, of Keokuk, Ia. In 1879 he moved to Woodbine and engaged in business with his father, who was appointed postmaster in March, 1881.
