J. T. Stern, farmer, was born in Chester county, Pa., in 1814; moved to Ia. in
1857 and settled on his present farm, in La Grange township, Harrison county, of
200 acres of well improved land, forty acres of it good timber. He was reporter
for the Government Signal Service, Washington, D. C., for twenty years. He
married Millicent B. Fletcher, of Lincolnshire, Eng., and has two sons and one
daughter. His son Almor is county auditor.
