	Ruth M. Hagerdon, 79, of Smithland died Friday, Jan. 24, 1997, at 
Elmwood Care Centre at Onawa, Iowa.
	 
	Mrs. Hagerdon was born May 29, 1917, near Soldier, Iowa, to Oscar M. 
and Virgil Anna (Ball) Larson.  She married Jesse Hagerdon on June 10, 1935, 
at Sioux City.  He died Oct. 11, 1992, at Mapleton, Iowa.
	
	Survivors include three sons, Richard A. of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Bill 
of Mapleton, and Ronald of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Norma J. McNamara of 
Mapleton, and Janet L. Parsley of Hornick, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Burnetta Melby 
of Soldier; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, 
Lavina Price; and a brother, LeRoyce Larson.
